Its a 2010 FXDC....the stock pipes are driving me insane.....I want a shovelhead/panhead sound on THIS bike....i know it isnt possible due to EFI but is there anything on the market that even comes close?
i guess i'll just go with vance and hines short shots and be done with it......i have listened to 60-70 Harleys online and probably 20-30 at a local biker bar....cant find "my' sound......so bump it....V&H it is!
Samson does make very many styles of pipes for your bike with the EFI ports. please check the sound bites and videos on our site www.samsonusa.com.
thank you,
JR
If you have a EFI system that also controls the ECM, like TTS, SEST, T-Max, etc., you can lower the idle RPM ... also, depending on the duration and lobe separation characteristics of your replacement cams you can about replicate it (the sound) without 'reverting' to a carb setup ....
Also, the bigger the 'can' (collector) on the muffler, the more (better) resonance you will get and thus a 'deeper voice' ....
I've got pretty much all of those things on my to-do checklist ... most of them either done or in the works:
* T-Max (lowered idle speed by about 100 RPM)
* Andrews TW37B cams (on hand ... yet to be installed)
* got a 'take-off' muffler from a touring model (3-1/4" collector ... just needs a little 'rework' ... yet to be installed)
I'll post up a sound clip once I get everything done (hopefully within a few weeks or so) ... I don't suppose it will ever be quite the same, but I think it'll be 'close enough for government work.'
