Well just for the hell of it, I went to my parts dude and had him do a cost for a complete tank swap...using the existing speedo from the FXD, mind you.

We are talking about using a tank for the FXDB. Total cost of parts is?

$1381.95 then add tax and labor

That is a black tank.

When I win the lottery, I am doing it.

other options...have a fuel cap welded into existing tank and have painted. Then buy the parts for the street bob console...next 2 1/16" dakota digital mounted in the fuel gauge location....(my own inventive mod!)

 

There are tons of tanks on ebay, or find someone to swap with you. When i did my swap I had less that 800 into it with a full Dakota Digital gauge, complete tank guts and new fuel filter. Personally I think the FXD tank is the best one out there, clean lines and a better fuel filler setup.
Save a search on ebay so it sends you new listings everyday until you find the one you want.

 

not to mention, you can also just buy a cool dakota digital and mount it to the bars like 8541hog above.... you don't need to swap the fuel tank like he did. 300-400 bucks depending on what you choose... and, get the part # from the drag specialties site, then buy from zanottis for 20% off list price or more. I paid 216 for my 268 dollar speedo.

If he has an FXD he already has the best looking tank.....

 

heck yeah... not to mention it is darn near impossible to spill fuel on the tank with the aircraft gas cap....Mod the speedo my way and you get the best tank with the hidden indicators and speedo...

 

No no, you put the WG ingition in the console like I did with a Dakota Digital gauge and then you have the ultimate setup....
