Anyone have or know someone who has a saddleman seat ? Thinking of getting an Explorer seat that's 2 up with a driver backrest for my SuperGlide Custom. Looks pretty good but I don't know if they're comfortable. Currently have a stock seat and a Sundowner. The Harley Sundowner is OK but it's ugly. Thanks.
All I can say is I'm stunned people haven't jumped to answer this question. Quite a few people run them. I have never owned one, but have sat on many. The reason I have never owned one is BECAUSE I have sat on so many. None of them ever gave me that initial...."great seat dude", feeling. So I bought a Mustang.
Love my Saddleman seat. Ride 300 miles to work each way. (weekly) When the gel gets cold, it stays cold. When it gets hot, it stays hot. I do love the seat. Had an Explorer on my Electraglide, very nice.
Have you looked at the Le Pera Maverick or Silhouette? Might be just what you're looking for. I run 'em on both bikes because they let me ride all day. Passenger too.

Dang, Freedom, did I read that right? You ride 300 miles to work each way! Weekly? Like 3,000 miles a week?
In that case, Saddleman has to get my nod of approval, but why didn't your gel pad ever change temperature in the 300 mile ride?

Mustang makes great seats, so does Corbin. I have the Saddlemen Explorer on my bike. Most likely the reason why none of them ever gave you that initial...."great seat dude", feeling, is because those seats hadn't conformed to YOUR butt. When I was looking at the Explorer, the guy at Saddlemen told me it would take quite a few miles for the gel to break in. He was right. I only weigh around 180 so it took at least 1000 miles for mine to conform to my butt. These seats are design to feel good in the long run, not when you first sit down on them.
To the OP, one of the things I really like about the Explorer is the back support. I'm not talking about the optional detachable driver's back rest. I have one but I've never needed it. The seat itself has excellent back support. The passenger portion of the seat is nice and wide also, which makes it not the best looking two-up seat on the market but, if you're going for looks, get a solo seat and a stick on pillion. Regarding overall quality, just look at a bunch of different brands and judge for yourself.
