I am about to pick up a set of 12.5" apes for my '09 FXDB and was curious to hear from experience what handling changes I should expect. More effort needed for turning, more difficult to make u-turns, etc. The bars I was going with are Chubbys with the following measurements: 12-˝"rise, 36-˝" wide, 10" center, 12" pullback.
Any advice would be extremely appreciated....
Also, anyone rocking these bars specifically, pics would be cool to see. I was tossing around the idea also of a bit higher, but not sure how they would look, so pics may be a benefit to me. The highest I would want would be by Chubby as well: 14" Rise, 36-˝" wide, 10" center, 12-˝" pullback.
12.5"
14"

depending on your height 12.5 should be very confortable and great to handle...I think you mentioned you're putting these on a streetbob (FXDB) so stock mini apes really measure 10.5...only going 2" higher than stock...I'm running 14" on mine (1" diameter and 10" center width)...still feel comfortable and I can handle well enough but I'm 5'6"...anything higher and I'm reaching above shoulder level....anyway enjoy your new bars...they look great in the pics...I don't think you'll need to change any cables so, install shouldn't be too bad...make sure to post some pics when you're done...

Thanks for the info. I am 5.9, and feel like I am hunched forward to reach the bars a bit with stock, but I did sit on a bike with the 12.5s and due especially to the pullback, I was way more comfortable sitting on the bike. Will definitely post pics once done.
