I'm getting a 250 up grade next week on my 06 SB. . Not only was I very happy to see the pix he posted, I was very happy to here what Reese had to say about his 240 upgrade.

As a matter of fact I would like to hear a little more about it.

I checked on a 180 and a 200 upgrade before deciding on the 250, the 180 just needs a kit from HD and a 180 tire, it cost about $400.00 for the whole thing. The 200 up grade needs a new swing arm, finder etc. that starts getting into the "I might as well go 250" range, so I went for it.

Cool Alias, post some pics on your project! email me any questions you have! I would highly recomend, and this has nothing to do with brand names, using a 240 Metzler because it is a radial tire and does not "grow" with rpm's. Tolerances and clearence with these wide tire kits are real tight! A 250 bias tire, like a Avon will "grow" as rpm increase and create a lot of problems! To address the 160/180 thing more specific, if the tire is 1" wider, it still adds up to 30% more actual contact patch area to the tire. So the effects in my first post apply as stated. A wider tire will have a benefit besides just looks, but even just looks is reason enough, right?

Talking about the cool factor!

I never gave the "growing "thing a thought before. THANKS for that tip. That's what this forum is suppose to be about.

I really liked the "Cool" factor of your bike, and thats what I'm looking for.

I'm also thinking of moving the tail light/brake light/License plate to the left axle and bobin' the rear finder.

I do pin stripping so I'm going to do some gloss black stripping on the finders and tank. Gloss black will be very subdued, you will have to really look at the bike just to see them. Sort of ghost stripping on flat black. (At lest that's what I going for.)

As soon as I get the bike back I'll get some pix posted.

I'm also thinking of the stage 2, 95" bore kit with shorty pipes.

I see your from St. Pete. I'm down in Okeechobee. Lots of great ridding down this way. I ride up to Plant City every now and then.

Just remember going wider than 200 will affect effort of turn in. Rode a 250 Jackpot and it was a bear in the corners.

I was told that a 250 was about as wide as you could go with out a lot of effort in the corners. I see a lot of customs with 250's on them running around on weekends down here and I didn't think it looked to bad. I was told not to go past 250 thats why I stopped there.

Everyone has been commenting about the fit.........how about some comments about how the handling of the bike was affected? Good, bad, or no noticable difference?
I really like the handling since I put the 180 on my "Bob".. she rolls easy into the turns and feels rock solid.. I am glad I did it!!!
