Man that is a “Hate Them” "Love Them” type of question, …. Fairings……..
In my case I really like them, it saves your *** in the rain ahhh face (I really don’t mind riding in the rain) I rode most of my like w/o them, then I was getting beat up by the elements and figured what the hell I’ll try one, I got the smallest one I could find for my low rider FSX, found one at the HD dealer in fact.
The size of it is 16” high x 14” wide , top of it adjusted to the middle of my heck height.
Pros:
Keep the hard wind off your upper body (yeah, I know “In the wind”) seems like I can go lots more miles w/it.
Great for smoking, I smoke cheap wood tip cigars on the road I stop less for smoke breaks unless I have the moaners cigarette smokers w/me. (I carry the good ones when I get there)
Great in the rain, when I use to take my bike into center city Philly there is nothing that compares to riding in rush hour traffic on the Surekill expressway in a driving rain storm, nothing else like it ! a real rush.
If your caught w/o your rain gear, it’s more protection than w/o it, just duck down a bit.
If you adjust the angle (with the fork line) even if it’s lower (smaller) it will kick up the wind up and over your head.
Cons:
If its too big, looks like riding down the road w/your bay window of your house in front of you !
Some large ones could be very drafty, some large ones can act like a sail boat, your all over the road.
If you can’t detach it. (I can’t on this model.)
Some can’t “look through” it , it bothers some people (I haft to duck down to see through it)
That’s about it from my end, you either love ‘m or hate ‘m
