Default Big Sucker open air cleaner

Seems my Big Sucker air cleaner element (K&N) dries out awfully quickly??? It does not stay K&N red for very long. Is this due to having it out in the parking lot at work in the sun all day??

Last time I over serviced the element and had the drip, drip.... For 2 days...

WTF???

up that seems to be the norm. i just clean it a couple of times over the summer and lightly oil it.

you gotta figure that all the dust and crap is blownin on it all day not to mention the sun.

I dont let it bother me.

I also noticed that it fades pretty quickly out in the sun. I keep the K&N rain sock on it and it lasts a few months longer.

If you want the color you can allways dye it like I did mine. I dyed mine black but you can use any color you want.

How did you dye it, what product did you use?

Thanks.

I was thinking of getting a piece of aluminum milled out to slip over it while at work...

I used Rits fabric dye. You should be able to get it at a fabric shop. Use the K&N cleaner then follow the directions on the pack of dye. It's real easy to do. Of course it won't keep the oil in it any longer than before but it will allways look good.
