The K&N cleaning kit costs about $20 and will give cleaning and reoiling cycles. But don't worry, the Big Sucker will spew some oil into the filter (and intake and combustion chambers as well). Do yourself a favor and look into an intake that has external breathers.
I have net yet had oil spew from my Big Sucker Stage II.
Glad it worked for you. For years I experimented with varying oil levels and different brands. Still had an oily mess dripping out of the filter and onto the motor. Even if it doesn't leak just remember that the hot, damp oily mist is finding its way back into the heads.
Finally my Big Sucker cracked at a mounting point, which wasn't surprising considering it's made of pot metal. Replaced it with a DK Customs unit and it hasn't spilled a drop of oil. I'm sure my combustion chambers are happier, too.
I have the Big Sucker 2. No issues that I know of. It is a "big sucker" though, physically speaking. It wouldn't be my first choice, aesthetically, but that's what was on the bike when I bought it.
I want to amend my previous post. I had the filter off today and was checking out the handiwork of the prior owner who installed it. He has closed up the breather holes that dump back into the intake, with some silicone. Instead, he's got some small rubber house routed that dumps out down below the exhaust. I actually never noticed this before. I guess that's why I haven't had any oil issues.
