I went from a VStar 650 to a '09 FXDC and found the Harley to be a much better handling bike. Plenty of power stock. I do need to do something about the exhaust soon.

That's okay, I'm not a speed demon. I just want to cruise along with the sound of a Harley v-twin doing it's thing.

I rode a 750 Kawasaki twin before I went to the harley. The 750 seemed faster out of the hole but that kind of riding is not what I bought the Harley for.

I wanted the harley for the power band I have with the 6 speed. It seems to pull from any speed in any gear. I can't get enough of it. Rev it too much going from 5th to 6th and the front end gets light. I don't take on any rice burners though. I do like and use the stock Harley exhaust and I'll bet I get as many compliments from the sound as the guys with the loud setups.

I bought a 2010 SG a little over a month ago. I had the 1K service and added a 200 miles.

It runs strong, but I wanted a little more. I don't like to spend much on upgrades so here is how I got a lot of bang for a few bucks.

I removed the mufflers and dug the cats out. Then I drilled several holes in the baffle. That leaves some material to stop the broom handle that some departments use to see that you have baffles. Also, that leaves the stock looking muffler with the nice embossed EPA printing.

Installed the oil cooler.

Added the Stage I SE air breather.

Then I installed the plug and play Cobra Fi2000r programmer.

The total cost is at about $500 and the increase in performance is remarkable. Sounds great also.

The HD accessories were 20% off with the purchase of the bike and the Cobra programmer was 10% off at J&P's open house this past week end.

I have put Cobra programmers in my 02 VTX 1800 and 07 FXSTC. I like them because you don't have to pay for a dyno tune yet you can still play with them. When I go to the Rockies, I just turn the pots to 0 and run on the good ole lean HD program.

The cooler helps in that a cooler motor runs a little stronger besides lasting longer.

The total time was 6 hours. Much of that was digging the stupid cats out.

Took it out for a short ride. I ran a wot through the first 3 gears. It was scary fast! I believe that it will take my VTX.

When I was shopping for my bike 2 years ago, I knew I wanted a Dyna. The dealer near me had a Vivid Black '08 Super Glide left-over that I could have gotten for $10,000. Problem was, it really didn't have much on it, and I would have ended up spending a bunch of money upgrading it. Looked at an FXDC, but really wanted a Wide Glide. The dealer could 'build' me a WG out of an FXDC, but the price tag for that would have been over $18k. Pass. Ended up buying an '04 FXDWG from a local guy. Great bike! Can't go wrong w/ a Dyna! I look at an FXD as a blank canvas that you can build into what you want.

I had other bikes too... and have ridden other bikes since I got my Harley.
Not one of them has compared to the feeling of that hunk of steel between my legs like this one does. The other brands felt almost 'toyish'.

Superglides are great bikes. I haven't met a harley I didn't like yet... so check em all out before you decide.

SuperGlide is the best starter kit you can spend your money on.
But it is a starter kit.
here are probably more accessory items available to personalize it tham most other models but be aware that they are Expensive.

FXDC not my first Harley but my third after 2 Lowriders. Rides about the same as the Lowrider. Excellent all around bike. FXD is a good bike but I think the FXDC is a better deal.

As long as you'd rather spend your time polishing chrome than riding.
Chrome don't get ya home.
