Default cracked fender

I've checked past posts, but this was not covered. What did you do with or to your old fender while you were waiting for your replacement fender? They said it would be 6-8 weeks for mine to come in. In the mean time I don't want to run without a front fender, so I have put up with the noise. Was thinking of welding the crack and putting a bandaid or sticker across the burn. Any ideas? If there is a way to keep the burned paint to a minimum, you guys would know. Thanks.

yup, opposite side of where you weld, place wet towels. It will keep the burn to a minimum.

Stop drill the crack. Drill a hole at the end of the crack ,this prevents the crack from migrating further. This is what we do in aviation sheet metal and this is what I have done to my previous 2 front fenders on my 06 35th DYNA.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll try some JB Weld on it first and then weld it if that doesn't hold. Had some good results from JB Weld in the past. Don't know if it can hold up to this or not. Want to play with it until the replacement comes in. Is Black Cherry the reason I have to wait 2 months?

fireball, you had two fenders to crack? What will keep the third one from doing the same?

Don't know.I have wrench checked the entire front end as well as the motor mounts.I don't feel any excessive vibration. So I informed the dealer ship to get the rep involved if it happens again. The bike just turned over 10000 on the odometer.I am hopping the issue is due to manufacturing process.Has any one else experienced this problem.
