I am considering Python slip on mufflers for my new 2010 Dyna. Dealer says they do not require any tuning/recalibration on the bike.
I am looking at installing myself. It seems like a bolt on deal. Am I correct on that?
I did some V&H Twin Slash slip-ons a couple months ago. Fairly straight forward except for those GD torca clamps. Couldn't get 'em to spread enough to go around the new pipes. Just put them in a vise and drive the bolt through the piece between the clamping ends.
See that little piece between the clamping ends? In the middle? Even after you remove the nut, that little bastich can prevent the clamp from spreading enough to get around the pipe. If you have to, just drive the bolt through that little piece and it will get pressed back on when you tighten the nut down.
Getting the old mufflers off was a treat, too. I used a flat-faced 2lb sledge to drive them off by pounding on where the muffler body connects to the black brace. And the torca clamp was TOTALLY loose. I'm talking spin-around-in-circles loose.
I could do it again in a half-hour. First time? GD torca clamps. Hope this helps.
+1 with will....if you take the rear(inside) brace off first, it makes it a touch easier to wiggle the mufflers loose.....I installed Pythons on my '08, and luuve the sound. nice performance too. I added Ness big sucker air filter, and no ecm mods...bike has never run better. Seems the big twin loves the mods too
