HID Headlight source?
joe i'll be calling you soon...
So do you approve street racing, wheelies and excessive (150+ mph) speed on public highways?
You can, of course, install blinding headlight on your bike. But don't come back and complain when a car driver plows into you or the bike just behind you.
I have several years actual experience in HID and I can personally tell you that, just as Member JimmysFXDC stated, of you do not aim them than you will have a problem, the very same problem you will have running a Halogen bulb. Shine any light into oncoming traffic, you are in the wrong. Many here talk with no real experience and refer to that they read someone else's BS. It must be because it is on the internet, it must be true.
To make a legal HID kit, the manufacturer of HID must present a total complete kit and than spend thousands of dollars to fund the testing. If just one part is not used, even if the manufactured replacement part performs exactly as the original, than it is illegal. For instance brand X lamp is used for the testing such as JC Whitney's kit, change to the identical or better quality lamp such as an Adjure, you are illegal.
With the several years I have used mine, I have never had an oncoming vehicle ever flash me, I have never been stopped by the HID police, but I have always enjoyed the much improved night time extended visibility (light is a different spectrum) and safety a HID provides.
Do you adjust your headlight every time you ride 2up or with a load? I highly doubt it. Because adding a passenger and a load will change the angle of your light thereforecould cause serious injury or death.
The process of adjusting a headlight on any vehicle IS THE SAME, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE LIGHT SOURCE IS!!!!
Per the 2007 Dyna service manual,
"7. Turn ignition switch ON. Set handlebar headlamp switch to HIGH beam position.
8. Check light beam for alignment."
If you do the adjustment in HIGH, you should be fine. If oncoming drivers keep flashing their highbeams at you, guess what, READJUST YOUR BEAM LOWER!!!!!! It ain't rocket science, it's a cone of light.

Now I'm done.
