Default Tuning question....Dyno?

Have owned my bike for 2 years. Last year had to have a new case so while they were in there changed to an S&S gear driven cam. This year had to have the top end rebuilt and am looking at about 800 miles on new build. Bike seems to run good but it was suggested to me that I have it Dyno tuned. I know absolutely nothing about the Dyno and wonder if I am getting good advice. Here are some stats on the rest of bike.
Big Bore kit, Mikuni carb, Vance and Hines Pro pipe, S&S Cam

Don't know if it has ever been on the Dyno

Looking for good advice. Thanks

Default Yup

Yup,you need to find a reputable tuner in your area and get that bike tuned. I bet there is 10hp hiding in that tune. Talk to others and find out who does good tuning in your area. Not an HD dealer!! They cant catch a tune with a bucket. Post your dyno before and after sheets so we can see em.

Thanks....Already found a guy that comes highly recommended but before I took it to him I wanted some honest opinions. I always like 2nd opinions when I am learning something new so appreciate the advice. I originally thought the dyno was really only for fuel injected bikes so that shows you how much I know. I will let you know the results if I decide to get it done which I think I will.

You have a big bore(95"?) with cams and it was never tuned? Was the big bore just done or was it always a big bore? If you just added the cams to an already big bore or just went with a big bore when you had it rebuilt, you need it tuned.

Ever since I have owned the bike it has had the big bore (95) and it did have cams. Don't know if it was ever tuned but am assuming it was. I had some engine issues and had to have a new case so that is when I changed over to a gear driven cam. Close to the same specs but not identical. I also had to have new pistons and valve job.

What year is your bike? Is it carbed or fuel injected?

You had to have a top end job done a year after the engine was pulled down to the cases? That's odd.

Yep...probably my fault as I had a bad day while far from home. Long story short I had my starter go out and had to leave a ride and head for home. About 100 miles from home got stuck in a very bad traffic jam. Could not shut the bike off and had no where to go. Pretty much idled for about an hour to hour and 1/2 in pretty warm weather. I live in Arizona. After the traffice jam and about 40 miles later while cruising at about 75 she let loose and spewed oil all over me. I believe heat was the culprit. Not a good day. Good news was it only needed pistons and the cylinders were OK. Just had to bore them.
