so i finally got my easy brackets in the mail yesterday. the first thing i do is try to install them on my bike.... the mounting hardware goes on without a hitch. the brackets come out of the box easy but after that it was a complete wrestling match. the brackets would NOT go on the bike without a fight, the locking mechanism would barley work (not at all after the key got busted off inside the lock), the drill i was using to drill the lock to get the SOB off ran out of juice so i had to wrestle the other bag on there so as to appear symetrical. what a nightmare! once i get thos b@stards off im gonna just save my money for the harlye detachable bags because this is BS!
I was going to go the easy bracket route, but after seeing several photos of bikes with those brackets, I didn't like how much space they added to the bag mount. Opted for Leatherpro bags with their brackets instead.

I gave up on any detachable system and just bolted my HD bags direct to the bike. Two bolts and their off but why take them off? You can also mount them closer in.
I just went through a similar thing this past week. I bought the Barebacks and I have the detachable sissy bar docking hardware. The Barebacks work just fine and as advertised however with wanting to have both bags and sissy bar "quick release", the bags just stuck out way too far for my taste. They looked terrible IMO. I ended up just bolting the bags on along with the docking hardware for the sissy bar. I may end up getting a permanent mounted back rest for the GF and use the Barebacks so I can have the quick release feature. I'd post a picture of the docking hardware and Barebacks but I took it off immediately before even riding with that setup. Here's a picture of the bags mounted directly on the outside of the docking hardware.

yeah ive thought about switching to a hardmount backrest myself but then again i like the convienience of being able to strip down the bike for cleaning and maintnence. besides i like switching it up. in my opinion i liked the way the easy brackets filled the gap between the bags and the struts.
