about killed myself trying to ride up a ramp on my trailer. lost my balance but saved by a helper.
Do angle iron side rail help on an open trailer. I don't see how.
If the bike is going to fall over it doesn't matter if the side rails are there or not?
I don't ride my bike onto a trailer unless I have a ramp wide enough to put both my feet down. If you're talking about securing the bike to the trailer after it's loaded, my minimum is 4 tie-downs attached to eyebolts (or some other solid connection) in the floor of the trailer, so it doesn't matter if the trailer has sides or not.

Looks good. I'd just lay a length of 2x12 on each side of the ramp (far enough apart so yer feet touch down comfortably!).
I have used a pair of portable front wheel car ramps for me feet as I go up the ramp.
I almost killed myself because I did not line up the ramp with the channel and the rear tire went up on and started teetering the edge...

Put the WHEELS of the trailer in the swale of a drive way. Get a bit of a start on the ramp and push the bike onto the trailer. I don't believe in riding a bike onto a trailer or into the back of a pickup. Suicidal.
If you don't have a swale in your driveway -- Find one. As low as that trailer is, you shouldn't have much of an incline going onto it.
I'm a believer in trailering. Wish I had one but it would be just one more thing to store and maintain. Besides, my next door neighbor has one.
Don't let these guys bust your chops. My idea of 'roughing it' is the two-ply at the Holiday Inn. Besides, once you get to where you're going, you can use your tow vehicle for visiting strip joints, er, er,er, local museums and stuff.
Put my $20 thou bike on a $300.00 trailer with mickey mouse 12in tires ? Not me!!!! If you must trailer, get a good tandem axle enclosed. Best case get some removable bags and RIDE. Mike
