I recently got the Stage I and now the rubber gasket on my cleaner cover keeps coming off and there is an electric plug of some sort dangling behind it. I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions as to:
1) Keep the gasket on
2) What the hell the wire is
I don't want to go back to the stealer if I can help it. Every time I walk in there I spend more money I don't have.
It is not used on U.S. models. I believe it is a sensor for the variable exhaust valve base upon vacuum pressure in the intake. It stated to put it in the metal clip under the throttle since it is not used. You can check the installation instructions right from the HD site or even the K&N filter site.

I wrapped mine in electric tape and shoved it up under. I've heard it suggested that you just go back as far as you can get on the harness and cut it off. I've got a heavy breather and there's nowhere for it. IF anyone can confirm cutting it off is ok please do so as I'd love to get rid of it.

1. I took the gasket off and reinstalled the stock air cleaner cover
2. That wire is useless on your bike. You can tape it or zip tie (like I did) and tuck it up under the throttle body.
The gasket you're refering to is not used when you use a high flow air cleaner with the stock cover. You just leave it off.
The wire is used on European models and as stated before, you can either tuck it
up out of the way or zip tie it.
