I have just recently installed the tmax on my bike along with a thunderheader pipe and a SE Heavy Breather. The install went fine on everything physically... The only questions I have are about the Thunderheader and the TMAX.... I havent gotten my heatshields yet from J&P cycles yet so when I ran the pipes it seems like its gettin super hot... Do the heatshields really keep the heat that much less noticeable? seems quite warmer from the stock exhaust on my 08 street bob...
next question... I did the initializing on the tmax i started it and liked it and clicked monitor and ran the IAC AUTO just like the instructions informed me to do.. I also watched the youtube videos to make sure i was going to be doing it correctly... After the iac auto was completed it prompted me to do what i needed and from what i gathered you could unlink and shut it off from this point... well i turned the ignition on and it said communication lost and what not and i turned the key back on quick and it went away. I rode it a few times and it seems to ride good but am wondering if there is something i should do such as rehook it up and check anything out and how to do this? all help is appreciated...
Shutting the bike down will interrupt the communication (will be lost) ... as long as you properly loaded closest approximation of your setup, the auto tune feature will make slight improvements when you ride until it settles at optimal settings ....
Nothing else to really do at this point except just enjoy the ride ...
You can do some further fine tuning if you want to, but the only thing you might need to do is adjust (retard) timing a little to prevent 'knock' if you find you are experiencing it ....
