Default removing baffles mean retune?

Do I need to reflash the ecm if I pull the baffles out of my new SE slipons? I also run the SE heavy breather.

What do you mean by need? You will notice softness in the bottom end and may get some decel pop.You need to do something if you want to correct that and want great power/drivability. You don't need to do anything to just enjoy the ride and are happy with the way it rides. Removing baffles are not going to damage anything unless you also have something else wrong with the bike.

Yes, as ColdCase states, you won't be pleased w/the results (popping & lo power loss). Bike will be louder, but performance takes a hit...might want to get your own tuner & save some maint. $$$...?

Thinking about pulling the baffles out of my Shortshot....tomorrow. I have a Heavy Breather along with a V&H Fuelpak, just a matter of reprogramming the Fuelpak for mine.

My suggestion is to get a set of Big City Thunder baffles. Their QQ's will definitely improve the sound and not hurt performance.

Pulling integral baffles requires a re-flash alright. But whether it's of the ECM or not is debatable.

See this photo?

That's an F22 going transonic (breaking the sound barrier). That is happening in your exhaust system 100 times a second at 6,000 RPM. Half as often at 3,000 RPM.

Then there's the exhaust gases leaving (or attempting to leave) your exhaust system at between 300 and 400 feet per second.

Even the least expensive exhaust systems have some tuning involved. The MoCo spends hundreds of thousands of dollars a year trying to tune their exhaust systems. Do you think it's an accident that their Pro Stock Drag Racing Team is sponsored by Vance & Hines? Andrew Hines is the driver. Wonder if he's related to....?

Why would you want to significantly alter mufflers or exhaust that the MoCo has spent a LOT of money trying to tune? They have Engineers with Masters Degrees trying to get it right. They have V&H Engineers running around the offices all day helping them to do that.

And you want to turn those mufflers into sewer pipes? Why? If you're unhappy with the way they sound, sell them and buy what you like. You start drilling holes in them or removing them and all you're gonna do is turn them into junk.

Don't mean to be a PITA, but why ruin something that is worth some good money?

taking the baffles out is not "ruining" anything.....

He said take the baffles out not drill holes in the pipes.....
