I posted the thread below on the Sportster section. But after several days I have received no response, so I decided to post under the Dyna section.
I plan to purchase the Easy Bracket Model SPT-R2 which mounts the saddle bags out three inches from the fender, which gets the bags out past the shocks. My concern is how will these bags look sticking out three inches from the fender. If you have purchased this bracket would you please give me your feedback or pictures of bags mounted on your bike with these brackets.
Obviously I have a Dyna, but I just measured mine for ya. Unless you have the quick detachable sissy bar hardware, from the strut to the saddle bag measures 1.75". I do have the detachable sissy bar, so that bumps out the bags an extra 1.25".
I took these pics for a CB antenna mount I had made, but they should give you a pretty good idea. I think it looks fine...
Thank you for the quick reply. I just measured the distance from the fender to the bag and it is 4 1/2 inches. Could you tell me that measurement on your bike?
Also, if you have a picture taken from the rear of the bike so that I could get a visual would be great.

This pic was before the tin install & quick detachable sissy bar. That means I have since kicked the bags an extra 1.25" out.
But right now, from my fender to the bag itself is 3.5".
I had my bags mounted using BareBacks in conjunction with the detachable docking hardware. I hated the look. They were way too far out for my tastes. I did not even take it out of the garage. I removed the BareBacks and bolted the bags on for the weekend. I don't use the bags often and couldn't live with the large gap. JMO...
The easy bracket that is used to mount large saddlebags on a sportster is 3 inches wide to get the bags out past the shock. Are your bags mounted behind your shock.
