Question Battery issues

Anybody have issues with hard starts on an 07 when letting the bike sit for 3 weeks +...I have the security system in it but I would think that would be a minimum draw...went for a few short runs before going on vacation for 3 weeks and forgot to put the tender on it...had a hell of a time starting it when I got back (had to jump it)...took the battery out and it seems to hold a charge...this is the second battery in it (first one had bad cold cranking amps...HD replaced under warranty) this battery is about 3 years old.

Battery life is unpredictable and yours may last a good while yet, on the other hand it may be getting to the end of its life. If you are going away on your bike and want confidence in it I would get a new one. Otherwise I would charge it overnight (should be long enough) and see how it performs. Take it out often, but give it a decent run each ride.

The longest a battery of mine has run is eleven years, but the shortest was barely six months!

Curious, do your rides generally consist of long rides or lots of short little trips? By long trips I mean running for 30 minutes straight as a minimum.

Remember, these batteries are small in size and an alarm system along with other draws, do a number. I would keep it on a battery tender for while and see how things shake out before replacing the battery. Also, with all this heat make sure that your batteries are not going dry on you.
