Default Loose passenger pillion?

I had the dealer install a passenger pillion and medium low backreston my 06 Street Bob, after the install I noticed that the seat moved a substantial amount, when I showed the mechanic he said they all mount like that. Anyone else notice a loose seat after install?

Yes. It's normal. They all mount like that. I've had a passenger on my bob for about 1000 miles and no problems.

I got used to it after a while. I cut the grab strap down and it wold the seat down tighter. Also with the side to side movement of the seat it tends to loosen the screw that holds the seat on, I put a drop of purple loctite on the screw to prevent that.

Same here and to boot the little fender bumpers on my fender to prevent the rubbing is lousy if you wish to go solo... the grab strap was loose also. I tightened the grab strap easy enough ... there was another hole left for making it tighter... as far as the bumpers I moved them to the seat itself and to prevent any rubbing on my fender I bought a phantom fender protector w/ those suction cups. Not only did it protect the fender it also tightened up the seat by taking up some space between the seat/bumpers and the fender. I seldom ride 2 up on my dyna now, but it worked good and the wife found the pillion to actually be fairly comfy with the exception that my Bob kicked a little going over bumps

I had the same issue. Took the pillion off (dealer took the return)and put on a Sundowner 2 up seat. Worlds of difference. I didn't care for the movement either. Didn't really cause any problems, but didn't instill any confidence either.
Good luck with it
