So I ordered a jireh front wheel, My bike is in need of Tires bad, it looks like I need to run a 120/70-21 on the front i have three options I think Metzeler, Avon, Dunlop Elite 3. the dunlop is radial the other two are bais? money aside what is the better tire? the metzeler is the only one with a matching rear 880 and a 880xl up front and they are marked tube/tubeless.
so my question is.....is there a downfall to going to bais tires front and rear?
is there another combo I should look at?
the dunlop is the cheapest and its radial but I cannot find a rear to match it, a little ocd I know...
I have a Avon. Finding a matching rear was a big factor in my decision. Avon makes a 170/60 17 that matches. When my rear wears out I will be getting one of those.
I am a long time Metzeler fan (since my motocross days), that said, don't waste your money on Dunlops, the handling alone is worth the few extra bucks a Metzeler may cost.
And to round everything out...I love the dunnys. I've been riding dunlops since 01. They sponsored me when I rode sport bikes and I've never had a bad tire from them. Of course Pirelli and Michelin put out good products...Dunlop was the only one to sponsor me. I have a dunnys on both my wheels right now. You might as well as ask us about oil if you are going to ask about tires. It's a personal preference. I'm tried and true Dunlop.....but that's like asking...are you a ford or chevy or a dodge man. Personal preference. All tires are good....and all do the job.
My advice....find a brand and stay loyal. If they support you....test their support. If you are happy...then stay with them. If you are dissatisfied...move on. Reward the best....eff the weak.
