Unless you have a tach, we're just guessing what the 'problem' might be.

It could be the clutch, that's why. Yes, the clutch does slip at high speeds even on the best of them. No matter how good it is, it will slip under that much load and with that much resistance fighting it. They all do, some more than others.

You're going way too fast and there is way too much noise to 'feel' the engine so -- We're guessing. If the clutch were eliminated as a problem, my first guess would be fuel starvation. My second guess would be timing. My third guess would be too much fuel because it's in open loop at WOT, so that could be it as well.

Finally, if the bike runs good everywhere else, I wouldn't worry about it. It's not the speed that will hurt you -- It's those sudden stops.

Mine will peg the speedo, on the dyno it hit 154 with a 30T pulley, it won't get close to that in the real world with wind resistance but I do know I have a little left after 120.

My 08 FXD is still pulling strong at 115 and I regularly run at 100-110. A real eye opener on one's morning commute. This scoot loves to run between 90 and 100, very smooth with lots of roll on power. And it does this bare or with a wind shield...

Stock, my '07 FXD could hit 95, if given the chance, but no more than that.

I need to try the same run with my latest mods to see how 2 into 1's, the Arlen Ness Big Sucker and Power Commander tuned for the intake and exhaust improve things.

Yeah, I just installed this stuff and haven't yet tried it out.

It could have been a slight headwind or something on the particular day(s) you tested out the top speed. Since the faster and faster you go, the more drag you get from air resistance, a small 5 mph headwind that wouldn't make a difference between 80-85 mph suddenly has a tremendous affect trying to squeeze that last 5 mph out at 115-120 mph. Opposite is also true for a tail wind, which might explain these 125+mph runs.
