Default What changed?

OK, so I've been doing alot of mods on my 2009 Street Bob and was looking into putting forward controls on it. No big deal right? Since I KNOW I have to change out the inner and outer primary, I was looking into the 2" open belts. My problem is this...they only say that they'll fit up to 2005. I've seen some that go to 2006, but what could they have changed from 06 to 09? Do the starters mount differently? Is the bolt pattern different? If there's THAT much change, I'll just get a closed primary for a dyna.

Thanks,
P.J.

it's the linkage that's different.
you don't have to swap out the inner/outer but you do have to remove it
to install the kit, and it comes with all seals/bolts/gaskets.
Alot of people hack this up and mixmatch parts because they don't want to or don't know how to take the inner primary off. they take the outer off and cut the old shift shaft with a hack saw.
which still leaves the other piece hanging between the inner primary and case.

OK, that's cool. I didn't know it would come with seals for the holes left by removing the shaft. If I can't find an open primary for it, I'll just get a new outer primary so that there isn't a sealed hole on the outside. Thanks for the reply!

It comes with a plug for the hole left behind by removing the shaft.

Those plugs usually end up leaking. I'm going to tap it for a broached hex pipe plug, anodized alloy, from the local hot rod shop. Make a handy place to fill the primary without pulling the derby.

Most primarys have the plug but have heard if you don't pull it out it won't leak.
