this is my first harley i have a 2006 street bob and it seems to be idled alittle to high can i make an adjustment any where or does the dealer do that????
Ive always found that mine idled to high, i now have the sert and was able to play with my idle and am happy where it is now. Not sure if there is another way to do it other than with a sertor some other program device.
I don't know about Twin Cam engines, but I know that it's bad ju ju to set the idle on Evos lower than 1,000 RPMs because the lubrication system performs poorly under that speed.
Good point CZ, I have an oil pressure guage and tachometer on my 04 lowrider and noticed it runs only about 10lbs or less of oil pressure at 1,000 RPM's after warm up. Going down the road it runs about 40lbs.
Thanks for all the replys i dont want to hurt the engine at all but i guess i was wanting more of the harley sound and i figured that if it was idled alittle lower that it would help on the sound of it .
If your bike is like mine was then it is probably idling at arround 1150 0r 1200 rpm, i am not sure why it was set so high but it was, it is now at 1000 and it sounds as you put it more like a harley, a nice bap bap sound.

I always heard that idling a Harley low screws up the cam, and it must be true because Donny Petersen of AI mag said the same thing a few years back in his column, you donât haft to believe me, buy since Donny knows more about Harleys then anybody I ever read, believe it.
Sometimes to be cool (engine lope) we donât know the other side, we are actually destroying the cam.
