progressive 418
hey all,seen a lot of posts on the 412 and 440,s seems like the 418 is a little more adjustable.anyone using these or have any experience with them?got back issues and looking for the smoothest riding shock i can find in the 500 price range

I had a pair of 12.5" 418's on when I rode 2-up (FXDXT); the wife bought herself a Low Rider and I found the 418's too stiff even on the lowest pre-load; went back to the stockers. I was using the 418's 'cause I lowered the bike <1" to get a better grip backing up etc. when 2-up. I contacted Progressive and wanted to get lighter springs but they don't make 'em for the 418's; I'm 200lbs in full riding gear, BTW. Spring changes are also difficult on 418's; not like the others with a top clip...so if your probably 250lbs or so they're great shocks, otherwise too stiff stock IMO

Thanks for the info im 165 or so,was looking for shocks in the 12" range-stockers on my 08 fxdc are 12.6 so should lower it a bit but not lose too much travel tried air shocks just not for me
