Default Tw408-44

Didn't want to start a new thread so I'm bringing this one back to life. Wondering if any one out there is running the Woods TW408-44 cam. Love the way it sounds but wondering if it performs as well. Used the search but the guys that were running them and have vids on YouTube haven't posted in a few years.

If I can't get any info on this cam I will be going with the TW-555. I will not spend any money or time putting in SE cams, had SE 211 and SE 255 cams in other bikes and wasn't overly impressed with the performance.

Just want more info on the TW408-44 like I said if I cant get any I'll go with the TW-555. Other mods would be Big Boyz head porting intake/exhaust on a 103.

When those "44 Magnum" cams first came to market we used a ton of them.
Low-lift version of the 408.
They work well.

Thanks, there isn't much info on these on the web. Don't know if that is because they are not popular or they are no good. Looking for a better performing cam. Would I be better off with the TW-555 over the TW408-44

I was thinking of the 222, do you know how the "44 compares to the 222 in the delivery?
They seem close to me in the numbers but I'm thinking the 222 may bolt off the line quicker and the "44's run out top end a little higher and both with great bolt-in mid-range.

Or how far off the mark am I?

Thanks

I think your right on. The 222 will have way more low end torque, but not perform as well a the 555. From what I have seen of dyno sheets at my dyno shop the 555 is an awesome cam. They only had a few baggers with the 222 though so can't really compare apples to apples.

Mainly I was interested in the 44 due to the awesome sound at idle, I know it outperformed any stock cam. Talked to Bob Woods himself and he said either the 44 or the TW-555 would fit for what I'm looking for just wanted first hand experience with the 44. I may just go with the 44 because there aren't alot out there and to be different from every other dyna with a cam and a thunderheader.

You got it right. The 44s will do better at mid to higher rpms, and the 222s are for low rpms - for heavier, bagger type bikes. The 44 lift specs seem better for 96" type motors and the 222s for 103" motors. For your 2014 Dyna, the 555s should be considered too.
