someone should do a write up, or post a link to a previous write up on how to remove rocker boxes for powder, i love the look, it would be nice to do this winter
lol ok...
1. Remove tank
2. Remove 6 bolts holding rocker cover on.
The reason I say remove the tank and because when I did mine during my cam install to reuse the pushrods, I tried just lifting the rear of the tank but I couldn't lift it enough to gain the proper clearance. The tank would hit the trees when tilted up.
You may want to invest in a service manual for that project though.
You will need to replace the rocker cover gaskets.

Someone already did it. Just look in your service manual
Once the top rocker cover is off, put the engine in gear and spin the back tire untill the cylinder you are working on is at TDC (Piston is all the way up and valves are closed all the way) both rocker arms will down on the pushrod end.....Then remove the rocker support bolts and remove the rocker support.....Then remove the bolts that hold down the lower rocker box....You are done....Easy job! Just make sure you are at TDC or you can bend a pushrod during assmebly.

That's funny right there.
Seriously though, to get the rockers off, I had to remove my tank for bolt clearance. I did try raising the tank but it still made the job a bit cumbersome so I just removed it, and placed it safely out of the way.

it's not flagging j*rdan as a curse, i'm sure it has something to do with MJ's brand and copyright nonsense and has some legal jargon that'll explain it all...
as for pulling the rockers...does anyone know if the OP is just looking to PC the tops? or if he wants to powder the complete rocker assembly?
the top rockers are just a few bolts and pull them off...
