Default do i have to pull engine to paint rockerboxes?

just ordered 2'' tank lift, thinking about pulling off rockerboxes while i have the tank off and getting a few things powdercoated

can i just pull em off or is something going to get in my way?

You don't take the tank off to install a tank lift.

...and it doesn't sound like you should consider taking the rocker boxes off.

....and your dad's '73 doesn't require engine removal to take the rockers off, heads and rockers as an assembly yes but, engine no.

i know i dont take if off to do a lift, i'm saying i'm concidering taking it off if i can get the rocker boxes off easily and THEN putting on the bracket...

and taking the rockerboxes off the shovel is not a "pop this out" task.
I'm simply asking how simple it is to take them off the street bob because i'm not fresh with new bikes but from looking at them it should be easier than the shovel

No need to pull tank.Remove front and rear tank bolts and roll up a towel and slide under rear of tank to hold up.I lift the front of the tank and zip tie through the tank bolt holes and loop over handlebars. Two long ties, one for each hole.
You will have to disconnect the fuel line....and the vent hose on the left front area of the tank. Also disconnect the couple on the wire for power to the fuel pump.It should be under ther front left side of the tank.

You won't have to take the tank off just to install the tank lift , just loosen the nut that's toward the seat and then loosen the nut and pull the bolt out for the front ( CAUTION :watch the fuel line but you should have enough ) then pull up on the tank and put a block of wood for support then install the tank lift ...

thanks guys,
but my question is the rocker boxes.
I just figured since i was getting the tank lift and taking out the front bolt, If it is easy as it looks to take out the bolts and pop off the rockers then I would just take the tank out of the way so I dont end up scratching it.
Have been wanting to get them and other parts of bike powdercoated and just wondering if I might as well go ahead and pop em off while i'm doing this

Taking the top rocker box off is simple, six bolts per but, taking off the lower rocker box requires taking the rocker assy off then the lower rocker box.
