Any of y'all have any experience with Scorpion helmets? I suppose I'm a little late asking for opinions; I ordered this today:
I don't typically wear a helmet, but thought it would come in handy for longer rides and looks pretty cool. (I don't run a windshield or fairing.) The purple/green you are seeing is chameleon paint. I did a lot of research on helmets and, according to customer reviews, Scorpion is about the best deal out there right now. They compare the quality, fit, and finish of this brand to that of Shoei. ($400 compared to $200) Just thought I'd share and was curious about your experiences.
I've been racing and wearing Scorpion helmets on the street for last 5-6 years and love them. Very well made, durable and light. Not as quiet as my Arai, but close.
you're getting high end helmet for 1/2 price ....
I'm on my second Scorp. Upgraded from the EXO 700 to the EXO 900. Love them both. Got my wife one, too. Best helmet she's had and that's after spending hundreds on three others, just to find one she likes. The anti-fog faceshield is like no other, and I ride in the winter. Just DO NOT use Windex or other glass cleaners with ammonia - it wrecks the A/F coating.
I have an EXO-200 and the 1000. The 200 is pretty good. Very comfortable and fits great. Its a tad big and doesn't vent extremely well, but those are minor concerns to me.
The 1000 is freaking awesome except for it being a bit heavy. But it has a couple extra features other don't which add to the weight. And it's something I've gotten used to anyway (I wouldn't want to try a lighter FF (Shoei) which might make me want it).
You'll like the 400, especially for the price. And yes, a rider without a windshield needs a FF or helmet with a shield. I've taken too many big bugs or small rocks off my helmet to allow myself to go shieldless.
If I had a windshield, I'd wear my Fulmer V2 on the highway.
I have ridden with both the Arai RX series and the Scorpion EXO series and although the Arai was a touch bit lighter I felt at speeds over 100 both helmets felt similar. I felt the Scorpion padding and liner fit nicer. Air noise and buffeting felt equal to me if not louder within the Arai.
The Scorpion price tag is hard to beat. Good buy in my book
