Default Uncomfortable Dyna Super Glide...

Hi all..

Just recently bought a 2003 Anniversary Glide, but I'm finding it very uncomfortable on my lower back.. I'm used to sportsbikes.. R1's, Blades etc, and tbh I expected the Harley to be a breeze compared to them.

The bike was previously owned by a lady, so maybe the seats been lowered to suit her, but it definately doesn't feel like I'm in a natural position when riding it.

I love the bike otherwise, but it breaks my back after 60/70 miles... not good news.

What are you asking, or are you just telling us how you're uncomfortable?

The stock seat on my Street Bob was uncomfortable on long rides, so I switched to a Sundowner seat and back pain on long rides is gone.

Default Uncomfortable Dyna Super Glide

Everything's configurable to get you in a better riding position -- height above ground, seat, bars, risers, pegs. Go for it!

it will take a while to get used to riding a different style of bike, maybe check out some different bars, risers &/or seat, forward controls

I'm asking, just in case someone has had similar issues...

In my experience most riders have have problems when converting from sit up to sports bikes, and I'd have thought the reverse less likely.

I rode a heritage a while back and it was brilliantly comfortable... hopefully its just that the seat on this bike is reduced too much and causing the problem.

I bet this is the issue given you coming off sport bikes to HD...

On a sport bike you move about weight is on the foot pegs & a lot on the wrist. Now your sitting on the bike so a lot of your weight is right on the spine.

Invest in a good seat all should be better.

Best of luck

I agree with the seat. You might also want to check into moving your handle bars back or forwards. Sometimes the handlebars will be to close or to far from the rider making them have to go a good ways to control the bike. Just a suggestion. Just remember, if you wanted comfort you would have bought a gold wing but you went for style/class so you got a Harley. Have fun with it. I think a seat or handle bars would probably work for you.

Funny thing about FXD's, if you move the handle bars back with curved extended risers, the speedometer will look real funny.A handlebar change and seat change may be the best bet.
