I have the Harley LED headlight on my '10 FXDC and while it is better than the original Halogen it definitely doesn't blow me away. Especially not for the 300+ large that HD gets for the thing. The biggest improvement is on the low beam end of things. The high beam... not so much. I was expecting a lot more, again for the $$$ it costs. However I'm spoiled. My cage is a MCS with factory Xenons and those lights rock! I wish I could duplicate that on the Glide.

I bought a 35 watt HID kit with a slim ballast of Ebay for $35 (kit has 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts) and I made it fit into my '10 FXDWG 5 3/4 headlight bucket. It is one of the cheapest/best upgrades I've done. Plug and play. It is not a bi-xenon so I only hve low beams but it is so bright that you don't need high beams. Deer/ road signs/ reflective cop car stickers, I see them well. Never been harrased for them other than 1 car flashing his brights at me in the entire last year.

I need one of these as it is dark in the morning when I go to work again and I can't see much with the stocker. I can put the ballast in my fairing but i want to find a good way to hide it completely but I much prefer being seen by cars than not. If it is illegal so be it. I'll explain when I get pulled over that I don;t want to get run over my over zealous car drivers checking their email, texting, etc. This si definitely the next mod. Joe, working on getting a wheel to you for coating like we talked about too. Probably a few more weeks till I can do so.

as far as it fitting in the light it really depends on how big the light is and what HID kit you go with. if you go with a small ballast kit should be fine. i run a 55w set up with 6000k

How big are the ballast, and do they need to be close to the light?

Mine is 2"x2". And the wiring is about 18" from the bulb.

My ballast just fried. Where I bought it is replacing it free after warranty.

you can use this as well to tuck the ballast elsewhere in the bike and make it work in the smaller headlights
