Quick Disconect's and Sissy Bar Problem
Hello Experts, I been struggling to get the parts to put the Detachable side plates and Sissy Bar uprights on my Bike and the Docking Hardware Kit. I just learned that it wont work because my Seat is too wide in the passenger area. Its a Saddleman seat and I love it but is there anything I can do to get a sissy bar assembly for my 09 Dyna FXD Superglide and keep by aftermarket seat ??????Parts I haveDetachable Side Plate:52886-06Low Upright Medalion style: 52735:85Docking hardware kit: 53961-06

I'm a tad confused by your post. Do you actually have parts in hand?
If so, take the side plates & bolt up the sissy bar. Doesn't have to be tight.
Now take said parts and 'slide' them into position from behind the pillion/rear fender to see if they clear.
If I have the wide pillion seat on and add/remove my detachable sissy bar, I have to do that from behind. If it's the narrower pillion, I can go over the seat.
If so, take the side plates & bolt up the sissy bar. Doesn't have to be tight.

I have the Saddleman Expedation Spec. Gell W/Studs #0803-0315 and the pillion measures 12" wide where as the Sundowner is 11" wide. I've tried to put it on from the rear but its too tight for me maybe two people could get it forced on ?What does the Directional Relocating Kit #53968-06C look like ? havent been able to see a picture of it. I'm thinking I may have to get another type of Seat.

If the seat is just too wide, maybe taking it to a reputable seat person to adjust the overall width may solve your problem. Sounds like the seat has too much junk in the trunk, so ya gotta put it on a diet.

The passenger pillion on the sundowner seat (2010 FXD) is advertised as being 12" wide. I put the sissy bar assembly on first, then my sundowner seat. Are you sure your saddleman is too wide?
