Default PCV engine temp question

I have a 2010 FXD and recently installed a PCV, K&N aircharger intake and Rhinehart 2-1 exhaust. I am also running Amsoil in the bike. When I had the bike idling and hooked up to the laptop, the power commander readout for engine temp was 340 after about five minutes! First time it was cranked today. Sounds damn hot to me. Where is it reading this temp from? I dont have an oil temp gauge. Can anyone with this or similar setup tell me what theirs reads? I am running map M15-013-002 .

Those canned maps from powercommander.com are not optimized. Could still be running too lean which would cause the higher heat level. You may want to consider a dyno tune....or invest in the auto-tune option for your pcV.

Thats the head temp not the oil. It is related through the stock ECU. I would add about 5% to your 2 throttle% column at 1000 RPMs. How does the map perform while riding? I have had power commanders on a couple of differant bikes and found that the maps usualy need a little tweaking but are generaly pretty good.

Just an FYI if your really curious about your oil temp get the digital readout one from Harley that also reads oil level. I just picked one up recently and tested it against my infared digital thermometer and the oil temp gauge from Harley is pretty accurate to within 5-10 degrees.

The bike runs fine. I guess I will get a dipstick with a temp gauge to set my mind at ease.
