Default PC-V LCD screen

So I'm trying to figure what other mods to do to my 2010 SG and the next major ones I'm looking at are the PC-V Autotune module and an oil cooler since I live in Oklahoma where it tends to get a bit warm in the summer. I ran across the LCD screen for the PC-V and see that it has the ability to monitor engine temp/etc. and I was wondering if that would be a good metric to measure the effectiveness of maps/oil cooling as compared to installing an oil temperature gauge. I also enjoy having more screens and data to look at anyway.

Does anyone have any experience with this module? Also, it says it can switch maps...does that mean it can act as a switch between 2 maps or that you can manually load new maps to the PC-V via that?

Hope that all makes sense, just trying to get together a mod plan before an upcoming ride to Colorado that I have planned!

Thanks in advance for your replies

I have both an oil-temp gauge and the LCD-200, the latter a borrowed unit that I've been playing with for about two months. It can display front CHT from the J1850 port on the ECU, and if I had to choose between CHT and oil temp I would pick the former. OTOH if I had to pick between the LCD-200 and the fairing-mounted oil-temp gauge I would pick the latter, hands down.

There are problems with the LCD-200 and I wouldn't buy it until DJ gets them sorted out. First, it is difficult to see in sunlight. Second, it occasionally zeroes out for short periods of time and will not accurately show AFRs if you have the AT kit installed. Third, the case is very cheap, flimsy plastic and is not waterproof. I will say that I do like being able to monitor CHT, which is a much better real-time gauge of engine temperature than oil temperature, IMO. Right now I'm displaying CHT, TP, and Fuel Adjustment (2).

Also, it says it can switch maps...does that mean it can act as a switch between 2 maps or that you can manually load new maps to the PC-V via that?
It will switch between multiple maps, probably as many as you can load onto a 1gb SD card. Since map files are 4k you can do the math. Unfortunately switching maps via this device while riding would be very dangerous since the display is hard to read in daylight and the inputs are very slow to react. You would want to do this only while stationary. If you want to switch between two maps on the fly I would recommend the map switch, and you don't need to buy anything extra to have that feature.

What iclick said is most likely correct, as he seems to have a lot of first hand knowledge. I only have the PCV W/AT and don't have any other first hand knowledge. So I suggest you go to the DJ site and read up on what the LCD is suposed to do, and you can read about and see the other cool do-dads that they have for the PCV. Keep in mind what iclick and posiibly others have learned. Link http://www.powercommander.com/powerc...r/Default.aspx

PS Thanks for the Dragonfly link 09King. Lot of nice stuff there, pricey but cool.

Awesome, good information so far. I currently have the PC-V and I am really looking into getting the autotune module before the trip so I can hopefully set it up for cruising fuel economy. I'm just not sure if I really need an oil temp gauge or oil cooler...so that's pretty much what I'm trying to figure out. Even though it's useless, I really don't want to replace my temp gauge with the oil temp one...I wish they made a combo gauge or something!
