Default Speedometer lens

Before I try to find out if I can physically disassemble the speedometer lens I thought I'd ask if anyone has done it. The inside of the lens is dirty and I'm wondering if it can be disassembled and cleaned??

Well not easily anyway - I have done some Yamaha ones and if the ring is crimped on as they are you can very carefully pry it off and reinstall it - the back side wont be pretty but if you are REALLY careful and tape it well to protect it - it should work. That said - I han't seen what the back of a HD speedo looks like so have a peek first and decide for yourself. See my instructions here - read from the 9th photo

I wish it was dirt but it looks like hard water stains from condensation, its pretty annoying at night especially on a brand new bike! I'm going to take a look to see if the lens can be removed but like others have noted it's probably a sealed unit.

Will try that suggestion, won't cost anything to check it out but I doubt the Dealer will do anything about it or if they do I'll be stuck with the labor bill. I'll let you know what the Dealer says.

The dealer replaced mine. Took me awhile to get back to the dealer so now my mileage is off by about 4000 miles
