I am installing new bars on my FXDX, I dont know how to get the throttle cables out of housing. Any ideas or hints? I also have the wire extension kit and cannot figure out how to install that either. Please help! Thanks.
take the brass ferrules off the end of the throttle cables AFTER slacking the cables all the way. Don't lose the ferrules. Once the ferrules are off just pull down on the cable and it will come right out of the housing.
You'll have to slack the cables, then you can pick up the wire which is laying in a groove on the throttle sleeve. Once you get the wire into the cut out, you can just slide the ferrules out. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE THOSE BRASS PARTS.
Unless you are changing cables there's no need to even take the throttle apart. Remove the LH side parts (clutch cable can stay too) and either tie it off or get someone to hold it then loosen the RH switch and master cylinder screws - lastly remove the bar clamp and you can slide out the old bars and slide the new in.

+1 - Thats how I did mine , just loosened up the assembly on both sides and slid the old bars out - slid the assemblies on new bars and tightened up.

That's all good and dandy, provided he isn't running inturnal wires, then he would need another person....
Man, by the maintenance manual, it should be able to walk you through all of this........it is the best investment you could make, when it come to working on your own bike.
Got the bars installed, everything operating correctly (blinkers, horn, high beam), go to start bike and the battery sparks and bike wont start. Any suggestions?
