Default Thunderheader issue...

So after about 4000 miles it became blatantly obvious all I am dragging when I take right hand turns... My thunderheader. It looks like I will sooner or later burn a hole right into the bottom of it where it it bends at its lowest point. Do you think I could just have a patch welded to the bottom with out effecting the performance of the pipe? I figure it will look like hell and I will probably end up wrapping the pipe in exhaust tape and maybe even powder coating the whole thing black...

raise your ride heigth, most harleys are too low for any serious cornering, longer quality shocks will ride better along with fork modifications, harley spends little money on suspension, its mostly about the LOOK!!!

I did think about that for a bit. I still have my CBR1000 for real cornering. I am just a little surprised how low these pipes hang.

To your question, there wouldn't be much if any performance loss from patching it up.

With mid pegs the Thunderheader will drag before the pegs. I do it myself.

The bike's suspension is 100% stock. I do hit the peg, but by the looks of things the exhaust is taking the brunt of the contact.

Of little help but I have scraped my Screaming Eagle exhaust in right hand turns. Now I just lean a little less.

Are you riding aggressively? If so, expect to drag the pipe.

You may have the suspension set too low, to allow for too much sag.

Glad I heard about this as my tuner wants me to change to a Thunderheader. I'll stay with my Samson shorties as I'm already draging my extended footpegs.
