2004 Wide Glide - what's up with my solenoid end cover....?
Dyna Glide ModelsSuper Glide, Super Glide Sport, Super Glide Custom, Dyna Glide Convertible, Super Glide T-Sport, Dyna Glide Police, Dyna Switchback, Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob and Wide Glide.
• Remote starter switches mount on the end of the solenoid• For starters or 1.2/1.4 kilowatt aftermarket starters (except Compu-FireŽ)
• The push-button switch allows the starter to engage and operate directly from the solenoid
• Installs in minutes by reusing your OEM screws
Well I finally got things worked out with this.......
I got a solenoid end plate for a 1.6 kw starter and that was much closer to being what I needed, but still not dead on. I used a grinder and we made the holes a bit larter than the norm and got things to work as they should. Made up my own gasket for it since you can't buy those seperate either, and away we went!
It would make sense that the previous owner put a heavier starter on it. The internal work he has done to the engine would make the stock one pretty strained I'd imagine.
I'm fighting some grinding now when starting the bike. Any thoughts on weather this could be related to this not being the exact right cover or not?????
you are getting grinding from the starter? i know on the chop we had to use a different type of gear it allows for play... i can not recall what it is called ill see if my brother can recall (it was for his chop)
