Havent been on in a while but read most of the posts. Ive finally got tired of taking my bike to the shop for the yearly maintenance and started doing it myself. Just ordered a bike jack and in about a week I will be pulling the back wheel off for the first time by myself. Sure for most of you its simple but for me its a major task. But anyway...Im having trouble removing my rear brake pads on my 07 street bob. I cant pry the pads back as it states in the manual. Just want to know how am I screwing up and should I just wait for my jack and do it that way.
have you removed the pins from the caliper? there should be 2 12 point bolts on it, i can not recall what mm off hand they are, but you first remove that and then you cna get them back... that is awesome you are doin gthis on your own man, we can help you out on here!
yep. I got as far as loosening the bolts but the problem that Im having is removal of the brake pads. I loosened the master cylinder and I cant find anything to pry the pads back for removal without damaging my rotor. I read somewhere about using a wood wedge. I talked to a few of my bros at the HOG meeting and one of them suggested using modified flat-tip screwdrivers but still working on it. I get my jack on the 14th of this month.

Reason: left info out.
looking at the caliper from the side there is one bolt at the top left corner of the caliper which must be removed, not loosend it is the pad pin bolt,if your pulling the wheel anyway why not just take the caliper off with the pads in it?if you removed the two bolts[ 13mm}the caliper should just lift off!

yeah your right cmonster I should just take the caliper off but I wanted to do it this way for the experiance when I dont have to take the wheel off. They came out ok but I also realized when I did it that it is easier just to take both pads out at once instead of doing the inboard/outboard the way it states in the manual. Thanks for the help you guys and you will probably see alot more posts from me for more help as I tackle the wheel next week.
