those amp connectors are really easy to release & reinstall but it can be a bear trying to figure how to release them. I used a dental pick to lift the lock tab (blue arrow) from the outside of the commector instead of trying to pry it up from inside like mud did in his write up

I bet mud could pick his way into Fort Knox

Too bad I didn't get this link sooner. Already cut the wires. No big deal, since I am swapping out the housings only. I can use that info when swapping my internals and wires for the new housings once powdercoated.

I used a small pick tool to get the reflector out of the housing. And I can speak from experience that getting the wires through the stalks is a pain. Once that's done, the electrical base is easy to get out of the reflector. Sure wish the MoCo would sell those parts separately..

Any pics, threads, or tutorials that anyone can point me to that might detail removing the wires from the light housing end and not the clip? I want to just remove my old housing and replace it with the black one without having to get the connector out from the tail light. I figure of I can get the light out and the wires removed, I can replace the housing alot easier. Any info would be awesome and appreciated as always. This board is by far the best one out there for HD owners in terms of helpful forum members. Nearly every issue or mod I have asked for help with found an answer here. Just thought I would mention that..

I wish I had pics etc to show you. I just disassembled six of the bullet signals. Its pretty easy but involved. I just don't have a comp to load pics up to show you.

Remove lens, loosen socket, and it almost disassembles itself. Remove the purple cable from the plastic "hold", after that you should be able to get the spring out also, then you have to remove the black cable, a little bit trickier, but pure force works, anybody got a good trick for this one? I think you should disconnect it at the taillight, just makes it a lot more easy to handle. And you don´t have to disassemble the connector, it is possible to get it out anyway.
