I had a Stage one filter on my bike. Had it tuned. about a month later it would spit pop an just all around suck. Today tryed a SE filter a little better. It wasnt mine its a friends. I had bought a wimmer filter and we were just trying diff filter to see the diff. Next we tryed the Big sucker. Better then the SE. So we put the wimmer on. Fired it up. Sounded like a diff bike. Went for a ride damm near all the sputter was gone an no popping. My bud was a shocked as I was.. I think I have a keeper here. Was going to get it dyno again but not now, bests its ran since ive had it. No decel popping an runs 100% smoother. I guess good air is very important..
I actually have the SE intake on my Fat bob with a Wimmer filter and have had great results. Wimmer Machine is a great product. But even so, I have always been a big fan of custom fuel/air mapping with a dyno. Its the only way to get the best performance from your bike no matter what you're running.

You know I looked into this a while back, I use to have a K&N on my truck but heard how they let a lot of crap by the map sensor, and after cleaning it a few times, went with a different intake filter.
As to the streetbob, I looked at this wimmer filter a while back and thought about swapping the filter cone out with the hd s/e heavy flow filter, but they have so many different filters, I didn't know if it would fit my s/e intake box, which is why I hadn't done it as of yet. Is that what you are saying you did?
Cactusred, Yeah I used the Wimmer Design Super Filter and tossed the stock SE super breather filter. The Wimmer one has the same diameter back but overall is a bit smaller. I think the SE filter is way too big IMO. Plus I hated the maroon color of the stock filter. My wimmer is all black with chrome caps. Looks and Performs amazing!
Hmm, I like that, I am gonna look at their website then and I think I might just do the same, my s/e is getting a little beat, on the cone part, I asked hd about a replacement and they said Id have to buy the whole thing, so kind of like your avenue, plus its black too.
