THAT is a great idea! You should add that to the under $50 mod list if it isn't there already. I'll be looking to do the same to mine since you so brilliantly thought of it!

Mine has been on and off a few times and although it isn't scratching, it does seem to dull up the chrome, so it needs a bit more polishing (hence adding JRK's mod).

Have had QR Windshields ( both compact and touring height) on mine since 2007. No permanent marks observed.

The only issue I have ran into with my Detach Windshield is my clutch cable rubbing against the edge of the windscreed and removing a little rubber on the line. I fixed this by moving my bars back a little.
