It depends what kind of compensater you have. I was convinced by a thread similar to this one back in about 2010 to try ATF.
A Screaming Eagle compensater won't last long with ATF. When I bought the 2013 (Screaming Eagle compensater stock) I used nothing but Formula +. I changed my compensater out at about 90,000 miles. It wasn't giving me any problems yet, but it had some wear so I changed it out. With ATF you won't get 20,000 miles and you'll have issues that will make a compensater change out necessary.
If you have the pre-Screaming Eagle, I think you would be OK with ATF.
The Redline High Temp ATF when mixed with the Lubeguard worked for me as the Mobil 1 mixture did, I stayed with the M1 only because I can get it locally.
If you check out Redline's page, their syn primary fluid & their ATF are very similar....

My bikes a 2013,
Been running ATF since it's first change at 1000 miles. Swapped to the HD stuff once because I had some, but back to ATF again. Those who question ATF, probably never used it, and listen to internet fodder WAY too much.
This is what I'm going with this change. Baker recommends this for there Compensating sprocket , at the rate those are crapping out , especially the SE ones in the 14 up bikes I want to increase my survival rate if possible.
