Ok I'm sure there are a ton of threads out there on this but I don't have a lot of computer time to look through em all.
I have an 02 Dyna SuperGlide that I just put on a WG front end, 16in apes. All the wiring was done with no problems got the front end on, perfect. I have 2 questions.
1st question - How the %$@& do you get the wire harness back into that square backbone frame. I've been messing with it for days. Do I really need to take the back tire off to get access to the back of the frame?
2nd question - I was thinking about lifting the tank up a bit, I saw someone with it and it looks cool but he said his gas gauge is off now. Is that normal?
I don't know about yours, but my 02 Low Rider has a rubber cover over the service loop area under the fender. I just pulled the cover off & pulled with one had while pushing the wire back in at the front with the other hand. That was the easy part....wait 'till you try to get all that wire back in the area at the back of the frame.....
weeT - that is exactly where I'm at now, trying to get that mess back in. Did you take the rear wheel off. I took off the belt guide but still isn't enough to get that harness back in.
I didn't take the wheel off, just the belt guard. I folded a loop in the excess cable & just pushed & shoved & crammed 'till I got it all back in there...kinda hard to explain in words!! I did use a big, long screwdriver with a rag taped around the end to cram the loop back up into the neck.
I just thought of a better way to explain it. When I pulled the slack back, I ended up with a big "U" of wire under the fender. I folded the "U" into a "W' & pushed the top middle part of the "W" back in the neck with the padded screwdriver.
