4 hours is about right for the job. Gotta pull the inner primary to do it.
A less expensive option would be to stick forward controls on it and cut the mid shaft off. Dont gotta pull the primary to do it, and you can do it yourself in less time.

Thanks for the info. Forwards won't work for me my legs are pretty short.
Any mods I should consider while everything is apart?
No real mods necessary but I suggest you look at the condition of the stator, chain tensioner, and consider replacing the inner primary bearing (if it needs it) while you have it apart.
Something to think about... The gaskets and sealing bolts can usually withstand reuse if the bike hasnt been apart before. If they already have one reuse on them, you'll have to get new ones and they aint cheap. Rolling the dice for a third trip around amounts to a case of russian roulette
I would see if you can find a sleeve/bushing that would fit over the end of the shaft and give enough grip to hold the shift lever before taking the entire primary apart. Or you can drill a hole through the end of the shaft and another through the shift lever and run a cap screw through with loctite on it. Or tack weld the lever on the shaft it until you do the repair during downtime. .
