Looking to buy the 412's any feedback on standard vs heavy duty? i've read their recommendations but am looking for forum feedback. i'm only 175 but do ride 2 up about 40% of the time. the 2 up wt has us at about 300. i guess i'm curious as to any single riders on heavy duty's and do they beat you to death? thanks!!
I am/was in the same boat. I bought the 440's in standard. I weigh about 180 and will ride 2 up less than 40% so Progressive told me the standard was the way to go.
I'm 220 and they're kinda stiff, I didn't notice how bad they were until I rode my brothers new Softail last night, I'm going to back them off a notch and see what happens.
I've had 12" Black Progressive 412's for over a year now. I'm 235 and i ride 2 about 20% of the time. I didn't notice any change from the stock set up really, as a matter of fact I just took my 412's off and replaced them with Burly 10.5's...now that was a change! BTW...I'll be putting my Progressive's up for sale soon for about 135.

What do you mean? Do you like the burly 10.5's better? What was the difference between the two shocks?

No...I wouldn't say I like them better, obviously a much stiffer ride to keep my fatass from bottoming out (might as well went with struts!). Actually, the 412's where much better comfort wise, but I definetly like the look of the Burlys.
First off Danocan, welcome to the forums, second prog 412's will likely be an un-noticable upgrade to your suspension IMO,however being 175 lbs I would def go with standard because at least when riding 2 up you can adjust.Heavy duty you will be fk'ed whenever you ride solo. + i reccomend not getting anything lower than stock length or longer if possible as you need that shock travel distance.
I'm running the 11" 412's with the standard spring. I weigh 180 and have them set on the 3rd preload setting. The ride perfect. They aren't harsh and I like how it handles lowered. It will jolt you a bit if you hit a pot hole or large bump but that's to be expected with a shock that probably has 1.5"-2" of total suspension travel.
