I have a 09 Dyna Fat Bob. I already have the detachable sissy bar and I was wondering if and how do I add detachable saddle bags. I like the clean look with no bags but like them for a road trip. Anyone have any suggestions?
Easy Brackets and Ghost Brackets are the two most common choices. I have used the easy brackets and like them. Haven't heard anything bad about the Ghost Brackets (but I have heard that they mount the bags just a little farther from the fender brace than the Easy Brackets). Not sure if this it true, but that's the info I have gotten.
I have barebacks that I plan on using for my saddlebags. Here are a couple of pictures and then a link to another discussion on them. Pretty straight forward design that according to my local dealer is better than easy brackets as they don't rattle.
All the above suggestions are for just mounting detach saddlebags or ??? The OP stated that he allready has the detachable sissy bar/kit fitted and wants to add to it a detach bag system... on the same mountings I guess..
Thats how I'm reading it ......
I'm getting ready to put a set on with the quick detachable side plates as well. Sure would be nice if they just mounted to the side plates so I could just pull the whole set off at once. I'm afraid one of the edge/easy/ghost bracket systems is going to put the bags out way too far with the QD already installed.

The barebacks will install along with the detachable sissybar hardware. I have the detachable stuff and this just bolts right through the hardware and then the bags quick disconnect outside of the other hardware...
PS: Using both quick release sissy bar stuff AND another detachable setup WILL put the bags out quite a ways. I had mine on for a short period of time (10 mins) and did not like the bags spaced out so far. I removed it right in the garage as soon as I installed it. When I put my bags on, I hard mount them and use them for the weekend or whatever. Then after i'm done with them I un-bolt them and back to the quick release sissy bar setup. Slight PITA but couldn't stand the look of the wide azz bag setup.
