I know this has been posted about at nausium but most of the complaints about the standard Dyna shocks is that they are "too soft" and are Bottoming out. I thought that was happening to mine (I have an 07) but in the garage the other day I pushed down on the seat and the shock did'nt compress at all. I tuned it down from 3 to 2 which helped a bit but it is still harsh on the bumps. I tuned it all the way down to 1 and it seems ok. I had a set of progressives on order but they were out of stock so I cancelled the order to see if I can get them at a local shop.
I am just posting this because I am curious if anybody else expiereinced the new shocks being Too stiff rather than too soft.
BTW- I weigh 210lbs.
Dealer turned mine up to 3 when they put on the back pegs before delivery... I way a whole 170 and the wife maybe 130. When solo OR 2 up there is very little cushion in the suspension... I plan on turning mine down to 1 as soon as I can either get the wrench or borrow one. Did you use the Harley tool or something else?
Mine were set at the lowest/softest setting when I got it, almost felt like a rigid to me.They soften up some as they get broke in. Now I'm thinking of cranking them up a couple notches for ground clearance.I've been scrapiing pegs since day one, I don't care about the pegs but after the pegs the Thunderheader comes next and I've nicked it a couple times.
I'm not sure if they are too stiff. Mine are set at 3, 06 dyna, and I like the tight ride. I believe the new dyna frames are longer after 06 and HD may be compensating for this. I like it. What I didn't like was the miserable stock seat. No give and like sitting on cardboard. I'm 260 lbs. and now have a corbin seat. I do know as shocks become spongier, softer, easy bounce, cornering deteriorates. Maybe you need a softer saddle.

I got the sundowner touring saddle. Never even rode off with the stocker.

At first I used a ratchet band clamp with electrical tape on the back of it to prevent the shock from getting scuffed. I just got the spanner wrench for it.
