Why do we need to have the removeable sideplates. Since harley changed the wide glide a bit from 09. The cost of a new setup from side plates to uprights, to pad, to now needing mounting hardware it is all up near 300 bucks. I see sissy bars complete in great shape on ebay for 70-100 bucks. They say they fit 06 and up dyna except fxdwg. WHy i ask. The pic in the catologe looks the same for the 06 and up and the one that fits my 11 wideglide. Last thing i want to do is spend close near 300 bucks for a pass backrest. Does anyone have one off an 06-09 dyna that can measure between the bolt holes. I cant see why they wouldnt line up.
I took off my sideplates and had a local fabricator cut off the old bar and bend up a new one. Just go get it powdercoated or painted and your in business for a lot less money. I have pics but don't know how to put them on here.
I have a 08 fat bob and my friend has a 2010 wide glide and i can put his detachable sissy bar on my bike and mine on his. I also just put a wide glide fender on my bike and can use my old backrest.

what did this run you. i thought about the same thing. that is remove the stock one and have someone cut off and bend up a new one, just high enough to put a pad on it.
